Luge Programs

luge start

Luge sport programs at the Whistler Sliding Centre are designed for youth ages 8 and up, offering a clear and engaging pathway into the sport.
Participants begin with one-time Discover Luge sessions, which introduce the fundamentals in a fun and accessible way. From there, athletes can progress into the Learn to Luge program — a flexible, full-season opportunity to build skills and confidence on ice. Those who are ready for more advanced training can move into the Development Program, which supports long-term growth and competitive aspirations.

Currently, on-ice luge programming is not available for adults.

Within the BC Sliding Development Centre, experienced coaches guide children and youth through each stage of their development. Our programs follow a structured athlete pathway, and our coaching team adheres to national standards set by Luge Canada. Meet our sliding coaches.

More information about participation in our programs is available in our athlete handbook. All programs follow a clear athlete pathway, and coaches follow a development pathway as laid out by the national federation.
