Our immersive Bobsleigh Foundation Schools are open to youths as well as adults (16 years of age and older; 13-15 years old in monobob at coaches discretion) who want to learn the skills required to become bobsleigh pilots. Three to four of these schools are conducted over the winter season, each lasting five days for thorough training. These schools are scheduled between December and March.

During the program, participants will receive instruction both in a classroom setting and on ice, where they will practice the fundamental techniques required for bobsleigh piloting. Starting from Curve 7 (2/3 up the track), athletes will train in either a mono or 2-man bobsleigh. As part of the Bobsleigh Foundation School, individuals will alternate between driving and braking duties, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the sport. Throughout the five-day duration, our experienced coaches will provide guidance and support, aiding athletes in developing and honing their skills as they advance to higher start heights on the track (read more about our coaches here).

Upon completing the Bobsleigh Foundation School, athletes will be able to join the B.C. Sliding Development Centre's Bobsleigh Pilot Development Program. These camps serve as a platform for further skill refinement, allowing athletes to progress toward developing the skills needed to either progress to the National Team program or become a pilot for the Passenger Bobsleigh activity.
